Our story
A Kuwaiti home. A welcome that continues.
A home by the sea
The first Dar Hamad was built on Salmiya’s shore in the early 1960s. It was the Al-Hamad family’s home, where relatives and friends gathered. The restaurant grew from a wish to continue that welcome.

Kuwait, in the details
When the house was rebuilt, pieces of its marble floors and staircase handrails were kept. The new architecture looks to the sandoog mubayyat, Kuwait’s traditional wooden dowry chest. Blue shutters and wooden doors with metal knockers bring familiar details of Kuwaiti homes into the dining rooms.

The welcome comes first
For us, hospitality begins before the first dish arrives. It is in the care taken to prepare a table, the greeting at the door, and the coffee that gives a conversation a little longer to unfold. We want our guests to feel the ease of visiting a home where they are expected and welcomed.
A family lunch, a reunion, a wedding or an everyday meal with friends. Each gathering adds something to the story of Dar Hamad. Our doors are open in Salmiya and 360 Mall, ready for the next conversation around the table.
